Who was the Black Knight performer you thought was surfing the best and why?

I saw Brenno get some mental ones out at Pipe and Backdoor. That kid is seriously a nutter. I also saw Hippo get a few big pits. I thought those two were the best for sure, although I could of made that call before we got to Hawaii. They’re renowned for charging.

How’d you go with the chicks? Which Black Knight dude pulled the most?

I’m hopeless. I dunno about the other boys though; I didn’t see too much go down this season. Although I did go to the odd party at the Oakley house, which got pretty loose.

Tell us about your best wipeout?

I’ve been lucky, nothing too serious. Although I did cop a solid set on the head (it felt like 10 waves, easy) when I was paddling out at Off The Wall. It wasn’t much fun at all.

What was the best wipeout you saw?

Probably when Hippo got burnt on a bomb at Backdoor. It’s not the sort of wave you want to get burnt on either; there are all kinds of shallow and gnarly rocks everywhere.

What was the funniest thing that happened to you in Hawaii?

Sitting out at Pipe for four hours and getting two of the shittest waves ever. I look back now and find that funny.
